Dr. Oscar J. Harp III, PHD., M.S.

Dr. Oscar J. Harp III, founder and CEO of Brain Enhancement Mindful Therapy LLC, is a distinguished licensed clinical psychologist with over 45 years of experience in the field of mental health. His career spans multiple disciplines, including psychotherapy, clinical psychology, and psychopharmacology, with a strong focus on mindfulness-based interventions. He has dedicated his professional life to helping individuals enhance their cognitive and emotional well-being through innovative therapeutic approaches.

Dr. Harp’s extensive experience includes working in diverse clinical and educational settings such as military treatment facilities, public schools, universities, nursing homes, hospitals, and youth correctional facilities. As a retired D.C. public school psychologist, he has contributed significantly to the psychological development of children and adolescents. Additionally, he has worked with adults and senior patients, addressing issues related to anxiety, depression, PTSD, addiction, and behavioral stress reduction. His expertise in mindfulness-based therapy has provided patients with practical strategies to improve resilience, emotional regulation, and overall mental health.

Academically, Dr. Harp holds a Ph.D. and an M.S. in Clinical Psychology from Howard University, along with a Postdoctoral M.S. in Clinical Psychopharmacology from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey. His undergraduate studies were completed at Clark Atlanta University, where he earned a B.A. in Psychology. Dr. Harp’s training also includes an APA-accredited Clinical Psychology Internship at the Children’s Hospital National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. His rigorous academic background has allowed him to integrate evidence-based techniques with real-world applications, enhancing the effectiveness of his therapeutic methods.

Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Harp has contributed to academia as an adjunct professor at the University of the District of Columbia. He is also a Fellow and Diplomate of the Association of Black Psychologists, holding board certification in African/Black Psychology (CABP). His dedication to culturally responsive therapy and community engagement has positioned him as a leader in the field.
